KYC Verification

Learn why KYC verification is required for RutoWallet virtual credit card access and how users can complete it.

To get a RutoWallet virtual credit card, users must complete KYC verification. KYC verification is mandatory for card access.

KYC is not required for basic wallet access, but it is required before a user can create, purchase, or use a virtual card.

Why KYC Is Required for Cards

Virtual card services may require identity verification because of legal, regulatory, issuer, and card network requirements across different countries and regions.

In some cases, RutoWallet may be required to provide verified user information if requested under applicable local laws, regulatory obligations, issuer requirements, or compliance processes.

KYC also helps RutoWallet reduce fraudulent activity, prevent misuse of card services, protect users, and maintain a safer financial ecosystem.

KYC Provider

RutoWallet uses Sumsub for KYC verification.

Sumsub provides the identity verification process used to collect and verify the required user information. During verification, users may be asked to provide personal information, email verification, phone number verification, and any additional documents or checks required by the verification process.

When KYC May Be Required

KYC is mandatory when a user wants to access virtual card services.

Users may also be required to complete KYC in certain security-related situations. For example, if RutoWallet detects that an account may be compromised and places the account into a rescue or restricted state, the user may need to verify their identity before full access is restored.

KYC may be required for:

  • Creating or purchasing a virtual card
  • Accessing card-related features
  • Recovering or restoring access to a protected account
  • Completing selected high-security or compliance-related actions

How to Complete KYC Verification

Users can start KYC verification from the RutoWallet app.

Verification may be available from:

  • The Settings section
  • The Card section
  • The card creation or card purchase flow

When a user tries to generate a virtual card for the first time, RutoWallet will check whether KYC verification has been completed. If KYC is not completed, the app will ask the user to complete verification before continuing.

When the user selects the verification option, RutoWallet will redirect the user to a secure Sumsub verification link. The user must complete the required steps through that link.

Information Required for Verification

During KYC verification, users may need to provide:

  • Personal information
  • Email verification
  • Phone number verification
  • Identity information or documents required by Sumsub
  • Additional details requested during the verification process

The exact information required may depend on the user's country, card availability, compliance requirements, and verification result.

Verification Time

The verification process is designed to be simple and fast.

In most cases, verification can be completed within a few minutes. Once the user is verified, they can continue the virtual card purchase or card creation process.

Important Note

KYC is required for virtual card access, but it is not mandatory for basic wallet usage.

Users can use RutoWallet's basic custodial wallet features without completing KYC, unless additional verification is required for security, recovery, compliance, or risk-control reasons.
